The fact two of the greatest American born players, Keith Tkachuk & Jeremy Roenick, keep getting passed over for the likes of a Kevin Lowe is a complete joke.

I hope than when/if the NHL starts back, you do a complete and thorough analysis of the Preds/Yotes series because the Preds blogger has been MIA for three months.

Hey Tanner. Some friendly advice from a reader. Maybe proofread your work for a quick second before publishing:

1) hijinks, not jijinks
2) Cusack, not Cusak
3) Buscemi, not Bucemi
4) Captain Corelli, not Corolini

Also, most people didn't think Shane Doan deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. I certainly don't think he did enough. But I also wasn't running around saying anyone who disagreed with me should get fired from their job. By the way, Eklund suggested Doan was a strong candidate. Can you fire your boss?

What are your thoughts on Hossa getting in on his first ballot over Mogilny?

The HHOF is a joke. If either of those two players played for the leafs they would be first ballot hall of famers.

Tkachuk and Roenick didn't quite do enough to get there.

Kevin Lowe didn't do nearly enough to get there.

Thanks for the help.

As for Doan, I said anyone who votes for him should be off the committee. I stand by it.

My thoughts are that while Hossa is a legit HOF player, getting in on the first ballot should be reserved for Eric Lindros/Nick Lidstrom level players and above.

No you didn't. Go re-read your own blog. You said anyone who even suggests Doan should be fired. And I'll stand by that as being ridiculous. Nice backtracking!

Scoring 500+ goals, 1100+ points while playing 1300+ games while winning multiple Cups makes a player a first ballot HOF player.

Here's what he said:

End of story. Fire anyone who even suggests him for the HOF cause it's patently ridiculous.

You be the judge.

Alexander Mogilny scored 76 goals once. Kevin Lowe scored 84. HIS WHOLE CAREER. One is a HOF. Guess which?

Yes, he does live for it, so why give him an excuse? Own up to your words.

I never understood the argument of "first ballot" vs "regular" HOF. If someone is a HOF player either they are or they aren't. Set the criteria and name those that meet said criteria. Stop stringing guys along.

Agreed. If Pierre Turgeon isn't in the Hall, and I'm not arguing for it, then none of these players should be either. I think Pierre Turgeon is perhaps one of the best examples of a player whose numbers jump out at you, but was actually just a really good player not an all time great. His stats and career illustrate the line between really good and all time great pretty well if you watched him play.

Pierre Turgeon absolutely belongs in the Hall of Fame. It's ridiculous that he isn't already there.
